Our University’s International Students Participate in the “Zhe Li Wen Dao” Art Festival in Yanshan District

On October 26, our university organized 4 international students to appear in the “Dao Xiang Huan Ge” (Rice Fragrance Joyful Song) themed fashion show at the“ZheLi Wen Dao” Art Festival in Yanshan District. Interpreting the charm of intangible cultural heritage from an international perspective, they injected international vitality into rural revitalization.

The costumes for this fashion show are original works by Teacher Ma Hong from the School of Art and Design at Guilin University of Electronic Technology, as well as students. They cover traditional intangible cultural heritage crafts such as dyeing, weaving, embroidery, and silverwork. The international students, dressed in apparel that blends traditional techniques with modern design, appeared on the main stage holding garden props like rice ears and melons. Pairing intangible cultural heritage products while walking through the rice paddies, they cleverly fused Eastern aesthetics with international tastes, vividly interpreting the design concept of “tradition connecting with the present, and intangible cultural heritage coexisting with internationalization”.

As an important part of our university’s “Perceiving China” social practice, this event built a vivid cultural classroom for international students. Through immersive farming and intangible cultural heritage experiences, the students enhanced their understanding of rural revitalization practices and improved their identification with Chinese culture. In the future, they will, in the capacity of cultural envoys, tell China’s stories to the world, convey China’s voice, and contribute the youthful power of GUET to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
